welcome to tokushima

In Wakayama, we caught the ferry for Tokushima on the island of Shikoku. On the ferry, we sat by a family with two young boys. Andrew and Matthew made friends with the boys and played together for most of the two hour ride. It was fun to talk to the family. They enjoyed practicing their English and we enjoyed getting to know new friends.

When we arrived at the ferry station, we were exhausted. It was 10:00 at night. As we walked out of the station, however, we were greeted by a whole team from the company we were to be the guests of. They were holding welcome signs and took our bags and greeted us with enthusiasm. We jumped in their vans and they took us to our hotel. It was a 30 minute drive.  We were excited to be their guests for a few days.

The hotel they provided for us was like a castle.  We had a huge room with luxurious furnishings.  We felt bad that they made such a big deal for us.

This was the main area.

It had a beautiful, big bathroom.

One area became a place for futons.

Another room had beds.

Because we arrived late at night, we didn't really see where we were.  When we woke up the next day and looked out the window, we were greeted with this view -

It was a golf club resort.  We had breakfast in a different building and could see our building through the window.

The breakfast buffet was interesting.  I was so excited when I saw an omelet guy!  It turned out that he made egg rolls, but with no fillings.  I sure was glad there was fruit!

After breakfast, our we met our hosts at the hotel and were excited for the day they had planned.
